Can opener comprising a cutting wheel (12) and a motor which drives in rotation, by the intermediary of a toothed wheel (2), a shaft (3) carrying a roller (6) mounted in a manner which is both rotary and axially mobile by means of a bidirectional drive mechanism which is constituted by a pin (16) integral with the shaft and capable of displacing along a ramp (17), and a spring (21) intended to keep the pin in contact with the ramp. According the invention, the spring is chosen in such a way as to apply a compression force which is sufficiently large to oppose the rising of the pin along the ramp when the roller rotates unloaded and sufficiently weak to allow the pin to rise up the ramp when the roller is in contact with the bead (9) of a can (11). The invention applies to electrical can openers for household use. <IMAGE>

Ouvre-boîtes comprenant une molette coupante (12) et un moteur qui entraîne en rotation, par l'intermédiaire d'une roue dentée (2), un arbre (3) porte-roulette (6) monté à la fois rotatif et mobile axialement au moyen d'un mécanisme entraîneur bidirectionnelqui est constitué d'un ergot (16) solidaire de l'arbre et susceptible de se déplacer le long d'une rampe (17), ainsi que d'un ressort (21) destiné à maintenir l'ergot en contact avec la rampe. Selon l'invention, le ressort est choisi de manière à exercer une force de compression suffisamment importante pour s'opposer a la montée de l'ergot le long de la rampe lorsque la roulette tourne dans le vide, et suffisamment faible pour autoriser l'ergot à monter le long de la rampe, lorsque la roulette est en contact avec le bourrelet (9) d'une boîte (11). L'invention s'applique aux ouvre-boîtes électriques à usage ménager. <IMAGE>
