Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0431711A1] The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for anodic or cathodic painting of hollow bodies, particularly cans such as drink cans or the like, using a water-soluble paint as electrolyte liquid. The latter is in contact with the cathode or anode and is fed in at least one uninterrupted jet, which produces a conducting connection, to the surfaces of the hollow body which form the anode or cathode. <??>In order to be able to coat hollow bodies in large numbers per unit time with such a process, the invention proposes that the hollow bodies (1) are pushed with the opening (3) down over an electrically conducting grid (4), the paint being flooded in or over the hollow bodies in jets rising up through the free spaces between the grid or grating rods from below and the entire inside and outside surface of the hollow bodies being covered with a continuous layer in the process. <IMAGE>
