To simplify the stockkeeping of protective fittings of this type, it is proposed that the recess be designed as an elongate cutout (1), the length of which is selected so that the lock cylinder can be inserted with its cylinder centre at a distance of 72 or 92 mm from the handle centre, and that an insert matched to the cutout (1) of the outer plate (2) be insertable into this in two positions according to the abovementioned different distances. <IMAGE>
