[origin: EP0432031A1] The invention relates to an armouring for protection against ballistic projectiles, comprising an armour plate (10) which is intended for stopping projectiles (15) and in front of which is arranged, at a specific spacing, an auxiliary plate (14) consisting of a ceramic plate pierced with a large number of cells (16) distributed in a regular chequerwork pattern and formed from blind holes which are oriented perpendicularly to the rear face of the auxiliary plate and which open out onto the front face of the latter. The effect of the auxiliary plate (14) is to destabilise and catch the projectiles (15) so as to assist their explosion on the armour plate (10). <IMAGE>
