Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0432625A1] The main/standby filament switch is controlled by a main filament monitor. The latter is constructed as an optocoupler (U1) which is coupled on the input side, e.g. in the form of a transformer (T2), to the main filament circuit. The switching transistor of the optocoupler is at a DC voltage and, when it is set, short-circuits a light-emitting diode, which is at a supply voltage, or separates its supply circuit. This light-emitting diode is the transmitting diode of an electro-optically controllable AC switch (U2), whose receiving diodes are connected via the standby filament (NF) of the lamp (L) to the supplying current supply device (T1). When current is flowing through the light-emitting diode, the AC switch switches through an AC switch (TR) arranged in the circuit of the standby filament. The main/standby filament switch has exclusively electronic switches for carrying out the switching processes required. <IMAGE>
