[origin: WO9001847A1] In a known process, a remote-control command (3) controls a television receiver (1) which, in turn transmits control instructions (C1) to a peripheral video recorder (2). The aim of the invention is to permit this type of control even when the magnetoscope is made by a different manufacturer and requires other control codes (C2). To this end, the television receiver (1) comprises a memory (M) and a translator (8), in which the codes (C2) for the peripheral appliance (2) are stored for learning purposes and the code is translated. The invention is particularly useful for television receivers connected to video recorders.

Selon un procédé connu, une télécommande (3) sert à commander un poste récepteur de télévision (1) qui transmet à son tour les instructions de commande (C1) à un magnétoscope périphérique (2). L'objet de l'invention est de rendre possible ce genre de commande même lorsque le magnétoscope (2) est produit par un autre fabricant et requiert d'autres codes de commande (C2). A cet effet, le poste récepteur de télévision (1) comprend une mémoire (M) et un traducteur (8), dans lesquels sont enregistrés les codes correspondants (C2) de l'appareil périphérique, en vue d'un apprentissage, ce qui rend possible la traduction du code. L'invention est notamment utile pour postes récepteurs de télévision raccordés à des magnétoscopes périphériques.
