What is described is a service robot for servicing a ring-spinning machine (10), which comprises a servicing unit (48) movable vertically up and down relative to the robot frame. The servicing unit (48) is assigned means (56, 56') for the continuous contactless sensing of the instantaneous relative position of the servicing unit (48) in relation to a ring rail (36) movable in the same direction and/or the instantaneous relative position of a servicing element (52) in relation to the servicing unit (48). The particular desired position is detected when the sensing field (62, 62') is divided into two differently influenced field regions (64, 66) with a specific position of the boundary (68) between the regions. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Bedienroboter zur Bedienung einer Ringspinnmaschine (10) beschrieben, der einen relativ zum Robotergestell vertikal auf- und abbewegbaren Bedienautomaten (48) umfaßt. Dem Bedienautomat (48) sind Mittel (56, 56') zur kontinuierlichen berührungslosen Abtastung der momentanen relativen Position des Bedienautomaten (48) bezüglich einer in gleicher Richtung bewegbaren Ringbank (36) und/oder der momentanen relativen Position eines Bedienelements (52) bezüglich des Bedienautomaten (48) zugeordnet. Die jeweilige Sollpo- sition wird dann erfaßt, wenn das Abtastfeld (62, 62') in zwei unterschiedlich beeinflußte Feldbereiche (64, 66) mit definierter Lage der zwischen den Bereichen liegenden Grenze (68) aufgeteilt ist. <IMAGE>
