[origin: EP0434100A2] A gas-blast switch with a moving contact (7) and a fixed mating contact (12) is fitted with a piston blasting device (9, 10), a blasting nozzle (13), directed into the path of the switching arc, being provided from the blasting housing. In order to achieve effective blasting of the arc, with a simple construction, the blasting housing (1) surrounds the moving contact (7), the blasting nozzle pointing in the pivoting direction towards the mating contact (12) and surrounding the latter coaxially in the switched-on position. <IMAGE>
