[origin: EP0434564A1] Process for the treatment of fibrous substances, especially plants with fibres or coarse fibres, which consists in placing them at least once in contact with a fluid medium whose temperature is lower than 250 kelvin for a brief time of between a fraction of a second and a few minutes, and in subjecting these fibrous substances to a physical process of selective separation of the their various constituents. The process applies to the treatment of plants containing fibres, such as flax, hemp or kenaf.
