[origin: EP0434956A2] A device for automatically feeding individual sheets and the like, in particular to an office machine (10) is described. The device has a magazine (12) in which stacks (14) of the individual sheets can be inserted in a freely selectable number and with a freely selectable holding volume. By means of a carriage (42), a sheet-separating device can be moved in front of the end side of the stacks (14) over the entire length of the magazine (12) and positioned in a controlled fashion. The stacks (14) are arranged in the magazine (12) in a non-movable fashion. The sheet-separating device engages between the stacks (14) and can be activated between the stacks (14) in order to draw off a sheet from the selected stack (14) and feed it to the office machine (10) via transport means. <IMAGE>
