Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0436131A1] The invention relates to a boat propulsion with a controllable pitch propeller, the hub of which can be fixed on a hollow propeller shaft which is coupled via a gear unit to a drive shaft and the propeller blades of which can be adjusted by means of adjusting rods guided in the hub, which are connected to an adjusting tappet arranged in the hollow propeller shaft, at least one end of the adjusting tappet being passed out of the hollow propeller shaft and connected to an actuator, the propeller shaft and the gear unit being mounted in the housing of an outboard motor, of a Z-type propeller or of a shafting strut. In order to facilitate the mounting and removal of the controllable pitch propeller and, if required, of the actuator and the associated parts, the adjusting tappet should be passed out of the hollow propeller shaft at the free end of the hub and there connected releasably to the adjusting rod extending parallel to the propeller shaft, and the adjusting tappet should also be passed out of the hollow propeller shaft at the other end and there be connected to a double-acting reciprocating-piston cylinder which is accommodated in the housing. <IMAGE>
