[origin: EP0436204A1] In this method, a sensor (32) in the form of a piezoelectric foil is attached to a yarn guide (18) or its suspension (20) and supplies a signal which, inter alia, reflects the vibrations induced in the yarn guide by the yarn movement. To obtain a signal corresponding to the yarn tension, either the frequency (f1) of an element (22) winding up the yarn and/or harmonics of this frequency (f2 to f9) corresponding to the yarn noise are filtered out of the sensor signal and the level of this frequency or frequencies is measured. <IMAGE>
