A knitting machine which moves a cylindrical or conical needle bed (13) relative to a knitting actuating device (35). A multiplicity of knitting needles (18) are arranged about the circumferential periphery of the needle bed at predetermined intervals. A knitting actuating device (35) is disposed in the vicinity of the needle bed (13) for causing each knitting needle (18) to perform a knitting action.
