[origin: EP0436421A1] The method for the removal of a coating from mechanical parts consists in treating the area concerned with a water jet (16) at a high pressure p greater than 10<8> Pa by means of a nozzle (4a) connected to a feed system (9, 10) and carried on a head (4) connected to a movement system (6), the value of the parameters being determined as a function of the condition and the type of the coating whilst observing the quality criteria for the results as regards the desired surface finish and complete removal of at least one layer of coating (13), the speed v of the movements being chosen in order in particular to achieve a maximum speed of coverage, or area treated per unit of time. <IMAGE>
