[origin: WO9003677A1] A gas discharge surge absorber (10) with an insulator (11, 12) consisting of a small ceramic tube is economical to manufacture and suitable for automatic bulk processing. To obtain the desired material properties of the outer surface of the surge absorber, the electrodes (11, 12) are zinc coated (20) and the outer surface of the ceramic insulator has an annular protective coating (19) of acid- and heat resistant paint or lacquer with no discontinuities in the axial direction or the surge absorber. The protective layer (19) has a width of at least 1 mm. It can be designed as part of the identification marking of the surge absorber and hence as a reversed print (21). The electrodes (11, 12) can also be provided with zinc-coated connecting wires (16, 17).

On peut fabriquer économiquement un dispositif de parasurtension à décharge gazeuse (10), dont l'isolateur (11, 12) consiste en un petit tube en céramique et que l'on peut soumettre à un traitement automatique en vrac, de la manière suivante: les électrodes (11, 12) sur la surface extérieure du dispositif de parasurtension sont étamées (20) et la surface extérieure de l'isolateur en céramique est recouverte d'une couche de protection (19) annulaire de peinture ou de laque résistant à l'acide et à la chaleur et qui est ininterrompue dans le sens axial du dispositif de parasurtension. Ladite couche de protection (19) a au moins 1 mm de largeur. Elle peut recevoir une partie du marquage du dispositif de parasurtension sous forme d'impression négative (21). Les électrodes (11, 12) peuvent être dotées de sorties (16, 17) également étamées.
