Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0437609A1] This invention provides an overcoating agent for thermal recording medium which contains as an effective component a graft polymerization emulsion obtained by graft-copolymerizing a monomer (A) of (meth)acrylamide, a monomer (B) of methyl (meth)acrylate, a monomer (C) of (meth)acrylic acid and, if necessary, other monomer(s) (D) capable of copolymerizing with the aforesaid monomers onto polyvinyl alcohol in the presence of sugar fatty acid ester and water. The invention provides another overcoating agent for thermal recording medium which contains as an effective component a graft copolymerization emulsion obtained by graft-copolymerizing a monomer (E) of methyl (meth)acrylate, a monomer (F) of hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, a monomer (G) of (meth)acrylic acid and, if necessary, other monomer(s) (H) capable of copolymerizing with the aforesaid monomers onto polyvinyl alcohol in the presence of sugar fatty acid ester and water.
