An apparatus for drying a yarn set (1, 2) saturated with size or dye can be made completely symmetrical in the region of the predryer (43), of minimum length and height and with a minimum distance in the wet zone, whilst having a fourfold division and with the use of two wetting stations, if the predryers (43) are provided with two respective pairs of heating cylinders (15-18), in each case one pair of heating cylinders (15, 17) being mounted horizontally above the squeezing unit (5, 6) and one pair of heating cylinders (16, 18) being mounted in a vertical plane (39, 40) at the exit (28) of the squeezing unit (5, 6) symmetrically in relation to a diagonal (13, 14) of the planes (38-40), and if the squeezing unit is located on the diagonal (13, 14) in the gusset (41, 42) formed by the planes (38-40) between the pairs of heating cylinders (15-18).

Eine Vorrichtung zum Trocknen einer mit Schlichte oder Farbstoff getränkten Fadenschar (1,2) läßt sich bei Vier-fach-Teilung und bei Verwendung von zwei Benetzungsstellen im Bereich des Vortrockners (43) völlig symmetrisch, minimal lang und hoch und mit minimaler Strecke im Naßfeld ausbilden, wenn die Vortrockner (43) mit je zwei Heizzylinderpaaren (15-18) vorgesehen werden, wobei je ein Heizzylinderpaar (15,17) horizontal über dem Quetschwerk (5,6) und ein Heizzylinderpaar (16,18) in einer vertikalen Ebene (39,40) am Auslauf (28) des Quetschwerks (5,6) symmetrisch in Bezug auf eine Diagonale (13,14) der Ebenen (38-40) gelagert wird und wenn das Quetschwerk in dem durch die Ebenen (38-40) aufgespannten Zwickel (41,42) zwischen den Heizzylinderpaaren (15-18) auf der Diagonalen (13,14) liegt.
