Catalyst housing (1) with conical exhaust gas feed and discharge connection pieces (3) and an essentially cylindrical central part (2) for accommodating the catalyst support bodies (5), which are mounted in such a way that they are held in mechanically elastic fashion and thermally insulated fashion by spring mats (4), in particular a so-called expanded mat, the central part (2) being provided at least over part of its length with corrugation beads either all or part of the way round, the inward-curved inner beads (8) being connected to one another by outward-curved outer beads (9) and the spacing d of the inner beads (8) being greater than twice their radius R1 and approximately equal to or less than four times the radius R1 4R1 @ d > 2R1.

Katalysator-Gehäuse (1) mit konischen Abgaszu- und -abführstutzen (3) und einem im wesentlichen zylindrischen Mittelteil (2) zur Aufnahme der Katalysatorträgerkörper (5), die durch Federmatten (4), insbesondere eine sog. Quellmatte, mechanisch elastisch gehaltert und thermisch isoliert gelagert sind, wobei zumindest in einem Teilabschnitt das Mittelteil (2) mit ganz oder teilweise umlaufenden Well-Sicken versehen ist, wobei die nach innen eingewölbten Innensicken (8) durch nach außen gewölbte Außensicken (9) miteinander verbunden sind und der Abstand d der Innensicken (8) grösser ist als ihr doppelter Radius R1 und etwa gleich oder kleiner als der vierfache Radius R1 <IMAGE>
