An electric cooking plate (14) is built into an installation panel (12) made of glass which is provided on the underside with a partially transparent and partially opaque masking. The underside of the plate is adjoined by an illumination chamber (28) which is lit by a lamp (29). By virtue of the masking, an edge region (33) is created, through which light shines outwards to indicate the operational state of the cooking plate. The installation panel can also consist of opaque material such as sheet metal. In this connection, the light penetrates a transparent seal or other translucent installation components. <IMAGE>

In eine Einbauplatte (12) aus Glas, das an der Unterseite mit einer teilweise durchlässigen und teilweise undurchlässigen Maskierung versehen ist, ist eine Elektrokochplatte 14 eingebaut. An ihre Unterseite schließt eine Beleuchtungskammer (28) an, die von einer Lampe (29) beleuchtet wird. Durch die Maskierung entsteht ein Randbereich (33), durch den zur Anzeige des Betriebszustandes der Kochplatte Licht nach außen hin durchscheint. Die Einbauplatte kann auch aus undurchsichtigem Material, wie Blech, bestehen. Dabei dringt das Licht durch eine durchlässige Dichtung oder andere durchscheinende Einbau-Bauteile hindurch. <IMAGE>
