Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0438336A1] The device is of elongated shape and is such that its axis of rotation in elevation, under the fuselage of the carrier, is off centre with respect to the inlet aperture (10). For the low-sighting line (Lvb), the device has a large protrusion with respect to the fuselage but, as the angle of elevation increases, the device self-retracts under the fuselage, the high-sighting lines being obtained without the pilot's visibility being interfered with. By further rotation about the axis of elevation, the inlet aperture is completely retracted under the fuselage, the section of the sighting device which protrudes with respect to the fuselage then being a minimum and of aerodynamic shape. <??>Application, in particular, to carriers in which visibility by the pilot is essential, during deck landing phases for example. <IMAGE>
