Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0438685A1] To regulate the dewatering and formation of the paper sheet between the screens (1 and 2), along the upper screen (1) there are fences (3) which are especially of uniform design. An identical spacing (5) is left free respectively between them. The spacing (5) is no smaller than the width of the fence (3). The individual spacings (5) can be closed by means of push-in inserts (8), with the result that the dewatering can be forced to take place in zones separate from one another. Arranged along the lower screen (2) on a table (7) are fences (4), between which can be set different spacings (6) which, in an advantageous embodiment, are each larger than the width of the individual counterfence (3) plus its distance from the adjacent fence. The fences (6) can be shiftable longitudinally on the table (7) and adjustable individually in the direction of the lower screen (2). In one version, the table (7) can be positioned both vertically and horizontally in relation to the lower screen (2). All these measures can also be carried out while the paper machine is in operation. The individual fences (4) are supported elastically against the table (7) and the table (7) is supported elastically against its foundation. It is possible, while the paper machine is running, to make the process operate, in view of technological requirements and the local situation and time factor, with a high degree of care of the paper sheet to be formed and of the apparatus to be operated. <IMAGE>
