To obtain a structurally simple and compact construction, a device for setting the timing in a timing mechanism of an internal combustion engine, having a gear wheel (12), which is driven by the crankshaft and is arranged on a camshaft (10) for the actuation of the intake and exhaust valves, the camshaft being adjustable over a limited angle of rotation relative to the gear wheel by means of an actuating element, has as the actuating element a switchable freewheel (54) which is arranged kinematically between the gear wheel and the camshaft and, on the basis of the pulsating torques of the camshaft, makes possible an adjustment within an angle of rotation defined by stops (22). <IMAGE>

Eine Vorrichtung zum Verstellen der Steuerzeiten bei einem Steuerungsantrieb einer Brennkraftmaschine mit einem von der Kurbelwelle angetriebenen Zahnrad, (12) welches auf einer Nockenwelle (10) zur Betätigung der Gaswechselventile angeordnet ist, wobei die Nockenwelle mittels eines Stellelementes relativ zum Zahnrad über einen begrenzten Drehwinkel verstellbar ist, weist zur Erzielung einer baulich einfachen und kompakten Konstruktion als Stellelement einen schaltbaren Freilauf (54) auf, der trieblich zwischen dem Zahnrad und der Nockenwelle angeordnet ist und der aufgrund der Wechselmomente der Nockenwelle eine Verstellung innerhalb eines durch Anschläge (22) definierten Verdrehwinkels ermöglicht. <IMAGE>
