The present invention relates to a process for the deliming of hides in the tanning industry and to an apparatus for carrying out said process. The process uses CO2 as deliming agent and the flow-rate, in relation to a unit mass of hide to be treated, of the CO2 which is introduced in the environment which contains the hides is increased at least once during the treatment time. <IMAGE>
