[origin: EP0440985A1] The subject matter of the invention is a sailing-condition indicator for ships, with at least one rudder propeller or pump jet, preferably several of such devices for determining the sailing direction of the ship and its speed in the sailing direction selected. An optical indicator is provided in the area of the navigator's station. The angle of the force direction relative to a reference direction and the thrust strength are indicated on the optical indicator as a function of the operating state of the rudder propeller(s) or pump jet(s).
