Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0441099A1] The weft-carrier gripper for a gripper loom having a horizontal weft feed possesses a head part (1) which is upwardly open. A wide sliding surface (5) protects the warp yarns, and the low centre of gravity reduces the tendency of the head part (1) to lift off from the sliding track when the weft yarn (4) is being drawn into the shed (30). The yarn clamp (3) retaining the weft yarn (4) horizontally has a fin-shaped part (17), by means of which the weft yarn (4) is deflected downwards before it enters the clamp (3). Various alternatives are provided for the yarn guide (10), located on the same side as the reed, of the gripper head (1). <IMAGE>
