[origin: EP0441100A1] At its end facing away from the closure part, the exhaust valve (2) is in operative connection with a servo piston (11) guided in a servo cylinder (13). During the power stroke of the engine, the servo piston is stressed in the valve opening direction by a hydraulic pressure medium, which is fed to the servo cylinder (13) from a pressure medium source (18) via a pressure medium conduit (17,27). A pilot control valve (15) actuated by an electromagnet (14) and a 4/2-way valve (16) are arranged between the pressure medium source (18) and the servo cylinder (13). The position of the 4/2-way valve (16) is dependent on the position of the pilot control valve (15).
