[origin: EP0442037A1] For drawing off and/or guiding elongate articles, such as electrical cables, tubes, ropes and the like, there are collet chucks (3a;3b) moved in the drawing-off direction by endless chains (5) and mounted on clamping carriages (4). These collet chucks are located opposite one another in pairs transversely relative to the drawing-off direction and in this direction are mounted so as, during their movement in the drawing-off direction, to be movable relative to one another up against the article (2) or away from this, the clamping carriages (4) being guided laterally. To make the rotation uniform, the lateral guide consists of endless guide rails (12) extending along the entire path of rotation of the clamping carriages (4).
