Epilating apparatus comprising, in a casing (1), a motor (2) whose shaft (3) drives an epilation tool (4) in rotation. According to the invention, the casing has a head (5) comprising at least one cam (7), whilst the epilation tool comprises, on the one hand, a cover (8) driven in rotation by the shaft and having openings (11) and, on the other hand, pulling-out means (12) passing through the openings and each comprising teeth (13) integral with a manoeuvring member (14) so that, during rotation of the cover, each pulling-out means can occupy either a pulling-out state, in which the bearing of the cam on the manoeuvring member brings the teeth closer against one another, in order to grasp the hairs, or a rest state, in which the manoeuvring member is free of the cam and the teeth are separated. Appareil épilatoire comprenant, dans un boîtier (1), un moteur (2) dont l'arbre (3) entraîne en rotation un outil d'épilation (4). Selon l'invention, le boîtier présente une tête (5) comportant au moins une came (7), tandis que l'outil d'épilation comporte, d'une part, un couvercle (8) entraîné en rotation par l'arbre et présentant des ouvertures (11) et, d'autre part, des moyens d'arrachage (12) traversant les ouvertures et comportant chacun des dents (13) solidaires d'un organe de manoeuvre (14), de manière que, lors de la rotation du couvercle, chaque moyen d'arrachage puisse occuper, soit un état d'arrachage pour lequel l'appui de la came sur l'organe de manoeuvre rapproche les dents les unes contre les autres pour saisir les poils, soit un état de repos pour lequel l'organe de manoeuvre échappe à la came et les dents sont écartées.
