[origin: EP0442590A2] A device for stacking individually fed sheet-like articles (1), such as banknotes or the like, is described. The stacked articles are pressed against a resiliently flexible supporting element (8). To hold the stack (7) on the side opposite the supporting element and to lay an article, fed into a position parallel to the stacked articles, against the stack, pins (2) movable perpendicularly to their longitudinal axis along a closed path are provided. Preferably, on each of the two sides of the centre line, parallel to the longitudinal axes of the pins, of the articles to be laid down, there is a group of three pins rotatable jointly about an axis (5) and arranged at an equal distance from one another and at an equal distance from the axis. Furthermore, resilient centring elements (9) controlled by the movement of the pins are advantageously provided for centring the particular fed article perpendicularly to the laying direction. <IMAGE>
