[origin: EP0443201A1] The industrial furnace is designed as a hood-type annealing furnace and has a first furnace part (1), namely a heating hood, and a second furnace part (2), namely a protective hood. The seal between these furnace parts is formed by an apron (3), the upper rim of which is fixed to the heating hood. The lower rim is folded over and encloses a weight load (4) consisting of a hose (7) filled with granular material (8). The weight load generates a constant compact pressure of the seal. The apron (3) is capable of smoothing out irregularities and compensating for a great variability of the distance between the furnace parts. <IMAGE>
