Abstract (en)

A connector for at least one pair of insulated conductors, particularly for telecommunication conductors, comprising a housing of plastic material including a base member (10) and a cover member (80), at least one pair of U-shaped contact elements (100,102) having legs forming a receiving slot (118,120,122,124) for penetrating the insulation of the conductors and contacting the conductors, and co-operating strain relief portions (44,46,48,50) on the base member and the cover member which deform the insulation and the conductor, respectively, when the base member (10) and the cover member (80) are pressed against each other. The strain relief has two integrally formed strain relief portions (44,46,48,50) inside of said base member (10), each including a clamping edge extending transverse to the longitudinal direction of the conductors. The clamping edges (68,70,72,74) are spaced a distance from each other transverse to the longitudinal direction of the conductors larger than twice the diameter of the conductors, and a projection (98) is provided inside of said cover member and positioned between the contact elements and said strain relief portions, to be driven between the conductors to press the conductors against the clamping edges of the base member (10). <IMAGE>
