Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0443353A1] Vehicle-mounted telescopic cranes are often designed in such a way that a head jib having the function of a jib extension which is also pivotable can be attached to the outer end of the last telescopic part (4). The bending-girder function leads to relatively high weight. In order to permit a lighter construction, the head jib is formed from an adaptor (7) for arranging on the last telescopic part (4), a trestle (10) attached to this telescopic part (4), and a luffing tip (18a, 18b) alternatively secured to this trestle (10) or pivotably linked in the luffing direction of the telescopic jib. The trestle (10) is alternatively secured to the adaptor (7) or is pivotable against the luffing direction of the telescopic jib. It can be braced in a pivoted manner against the telescopic jib. To luff the luffing tip (18a, 18b), bracing is provided with the inclusion of a pulley block (12) between its head (17) and the tip of the pivoted trestle (10). The pulley block (12) is driven by a separate winch on the crane superstructure. The head jib can thus be used in a very versatile manner and can be of lighter construction, since both the trestle (10) and the luffing tip (18a, 18b), which in addition is constructed so that it can be folded, need only be designed as a compression support for the luffing. <IMAGE>
