[origin: EP0443418A1] The invention relates to a textile machine for the processing of textile material, having a control and drive unit (17) and a feed device (2) for the feed of textile material (50, 51) which is extracted from textile-material stores (A, R) assigned to the feed device (2), and having a delivery unit (3) which is assigned to the textile-processing machine and which delivers the discharged textile material to corresponding receiving stores (F2). In known machines of this type, the feed device for textile material is connected to the textile-processing machine for drive and control purposes. It is consequently difficult, especially when an automatic transport system is used, to co-ordinate this feed unit (2) in such a way that it meets the requirements of short drive transmissions, high flexibility, high dynamics and a good regulating possibility. It is therefore proposed that the feed device (2) be equipped at least partially with an independent control and drive unit (13, 9). <IMAGE>
