[origin: EP0443621A1] A setting device for setting roof battens on rafters or a similar base at a given distance relative to set roof battens. The device possesses a framework (2) having a first row (50) of lay-on elements (52) and a first row (80) of press-on elements (82), the latter being coupled to at least one motor (81) for clamping a roof batten to be set. A second row (70) of lay-on elements (72) is provided for positioning the device on a set roof batten. The adjustable distance between the first row (50) and second row (70) of lay-on elements determines the distance of the roof batten to be set from a roof batten which has already been set. <IMAGE>
