[origin: JPH04228360A] PURPOSE: To provide a sliding door which has low-bulk, simple, strong and relatively light-weighted structure, enables large sliding stroke, and remains a wide selective possibility concerning the respective loci of the front edge and the rear edge of a movable part. CONSTITUTION: A movable part is capable of moving between an open position and a closed position relative to openings 3, 4, 6, 7. In the closed position, a front edge 12 of the movable part is engaged in a groove 11 of the front edge 3 of the opening. At the beginning of the opening procedure, two arms 18a, 18b are pivoted by a cylinder 24, and the ends of the arms are slid in grooves 21a, 21b of the movable part toward the outside of the opening. Thus, the rear edge of the movable part is disengaged relative to the read edge of the opening.
