Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9005848A1] A final ignition stage of a transistor ignition installation (1) comprises a Darlington transistor (DT) which has a collector-emitter circuit in which the primary current (ISP) of an ignition coil (ZS) flows and which is controlled by a base line (2). A control transistor (T1) arranged between the base line (2) for base contact of the Darlington transistor (DT) and earth is actuated in function of the magnitude of the coil primary current (ISP) and derives the base current flowing in the Darlington transistor in order to partially limit the current with respect to earth. This results in a simple, economical circuit for limiting the coil primary current and hence the stored ignition energy.
