[origin: EP0444668A2] By virtue of the invention, a refrigerated container, in particular a sales container for ice cream, is proposed, which can be used independently of an external energy source for a cooling aggregate. The sales container comprises an insulating housing (12), into which an internal container (14) made of material which conducts heat well, which forms the actual chamber (16) for the goods to be refrigerated, is inserted and in which a refrigerant chamber (18) is arranged, which is separate and thermally insulated from the chamber (16) for the goods to be refrigerated and receives dry ice as refrigerant. The carbon dioxide vaporising in the refrigerant chamber is, via cooling ducts (32, 34) in a closed circuit, conducted past the walls of the internal container and kept in motion by fans (36). For pressure relief of the refrigerant circuit, openings (40) are arranged in the side walls of the internal container so that excess carbon dioxide flows into and fills the chamber (16) for the goods to be refrigerated. <IMAGE>
