Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0445316A1] An industrial sewing machine possesses an electronic control device which initiates and controls one of various functions, for example label insertion, cutting, etc., as a function of the seam length currently being produced. Each seam-length portion is defined by the product of the stitch length and number of stitches. For this, the control device processes one or more entered stitch lengths, and desired-length data entered for each seam-length portion, to the effect that the length data are divided by the particular associated stitch length, in order to obtain the correct number of stitches for each seam-length portion. This number of stitches is then calculated for each stored seam-length portion, specifically separately for the corresponding seam-length portions of the individual dress sizes of the article. For correction, a correction value is likewise entered, for example in mm, so that the stored seam-length portions are corrected by a factor, with the result that the stitch length is varied. To enter the desired-length data and the correction values, a key pad (19, 21), in conjunction with a display (7), is provided in a housing (15) of the control device. Storage of the seam-length portions for any particular dress article is carried out in a plug-in storage module (17). <IMAGE>
