Abstract (en)
An excellent filter for separating particulates in exhaust gases emitted from diesel engines is provided which can be repeatedly regenerated without incurring a crack or melting thereof with minimum capacity of heat source and battery consumption required for the regeneration. The filter for separating particulates in exhaust gases emitted from diesel engines comprises a honeycomb structural body (1) having a number of throughholes (2) which are defined by the partition walls that separate particulates, the throughholes being alternately sealed at the inlet and outlet ends of the honeycomb structural body by sealing members (3,4), and at least the sealing members (3) at the inlet end being partially or wholly made of a material having an emissivity of a minimum of 0.6 at the outer surface of the inlet end of the honeycomb structural body. <IMAGE>
