[origin: EP0446166A1] The column has slot-shaped fastening openings (11) arranged in the form of a cross, which are situated on four sides of a square column core (10) and are provided for hooking in suspension members (12). Mounted on the column core (10) are four profiled covering members (4, 4a) which cover the column core (10), leaving open four continuous guide channels (19) distributed uniformly on the periphery. The column core (10), made of a square metal tube, contains, in linear arrangement with respect to the first fastening openings (11), two fastening openings (13) for receiving guide members (14) which serve for fixing the covering members (4, 4a) on the column core (10). <IMAGE>
