Shown and described is a machine (10) for strapping a palletised product (18), including the pallet (17), with a strapping means, in particular a thermoplastic strip, essentially comprising a gantry (11), a bayonet (16), combining with the said gantry to form a surrounding strip-guiding channel (19) for the strapping means, and a unit (15) for keeping, feeding and fastening the strapping means, both the bayonet (16) and the unit (15) in each case being equipped with a drive motor (24) and a linear guide (31, 38) for their essentially horizontal relative movement with respect to product (18) and gantry (11). In order to provide such a machine which is able to meet the safety requirements in a considerably simplified manner and with which it is possible to realise technically less complicated linear guides, the use of a torque motor (26) is envisaged as drive motor for the bayonet (16) and/or the unit. If bayonet and/or unit (15) meet an obstacle, they are prevented from their further movement without the torque motor (26) having to be de-energised. It simply stops, even if no switching-off device is activated. It consequently dispenses with all previously necessary emergency control or switching measures. <IMAGE>

Dargestellt und beschrieben ist eine Maschine (10) zur Umreifung palettierten Packgutes (18) einschließlich der Palette (17) mit einem Umreifungsmittel, insbesondere einem thermoplastischen Band, im wesentlichen bestehend aus einem Portal (11), einem dieses zu einem umlaufenden Bandführungskanal (19) für das Umreifungsmittel ergänzenden Bajonett (16) und einem Aggregat (15) für die Bereithaltung, Förderung und den Verschluß des Umreifungsmittels, wobei sowohl das Bajonett (16) als auch das Aggregat (15) jeweils mit einem Antriebsmotor (24) und einer Linearführung (31, 38) für ihre im wesentlichen horizontale Relativbewegung zu Packgut (18) und Portal (11) ausgerüstet sind. Um eine solche Maschine verfügbar zu machen, die die Sicherheitsanforderungen in erheblich vereinfachter Art und Weise zu erfüllen in der Lage ist und bei der technisch wenig aufwendige Linearführungen realisierbar sind, ist die Verwendung eines Drehfeldmagneten (26) als Antriebsmotor für das Bajonett (16) und/oder das Aggregat vorgesehen. Wenn Bajonett und/oder Aggregat (15) auf ein Hindernis treffen, werden sie an ihrer weiteren Bewegung gehindert, ohne daß der Drehfeldmagnet (26) stromlos geschaltet werden muß. Er bleibt schlicht stehen, auch wenn keine Abschaltvorrichtung in Funktion gesetzt wird. Damit entfallen sämtliche bislang notwendigen Notsteuerungs- bzw. -schaltungsmaßnahmen. <IMAGE>
