[origin: EP0446762A2] The invention relates to a process for making engraved rollers and plates for printing processes. In the process, at least two layers of a metal or metal compound are deposited on a parent metal body after it has been engraved to increase the hardening and corrosion protection in order to achieve surface hardnesses of not less than 2000 HV. <IMAGE>
