[origin: EP0447786A2] Ink ribbon cartridges for typewriters or similar office machines are subject to various design requirements and are, above all, to be easily exchangeable using one hand. For reasons of environmental pollution, the ink ribbon cartridges (1) have a hinged lid (5) for changing the ink ribbon spools (27, 53). In this case, in known ink ribbon cartridges, the receiving spool (27) mounted on a swivel lever (21) has to be disengaged from a driven pin roller (29). The swivelling of the swivel lever (21) from the engagement position into the position of rest takes place via a manual setting lever (13), in which case the force of a tension spring (57) linked to the swivel lever (21) has to be overcome. The winding of the ink ribbon (47) onto the receiving spool (27) and the swivelling of the swivel lever (21) are facilitated according to the invention by a deflection (65) on the swivel lever (21) when a long tension spring (57) is used, as a result of which a spring with a slightly rising spring characteristic can be used. <IMAGE>
