[origin: US5060441A] Studs and plates used to retain compressible insulating panels against sagging in a hollow wall. Also, bars for securing rigid insulating panels in a wall. All of these elements are made of sheet metal and include struck-out prongs defining a similarly-shaped opening in the sheet metal. These prongs are elongated, with a pointed face end and teeth laterally projecting from one side. The inner end of each prong is integrally retained to the sheet metal and the prong can be bent into an operative position, normal to the sheet metal from an inoperative position nearly parallel to the sheet metal. A stop protrudes from the prong at the bending line to abut the sheet metal and maintain the prong in its operative position. The prong, in its inoperative position, protruding from one side of the sheet metal and offset with respect to the opening in the sheet metal, such as that it can be bent through said opening. Therefore, the user cannot bend the prong in the wrong direction.

Montants et plaques destinés à retenir des panneaux isolants (28) compressibles contre l'affaissement dans un mur creux ainsi que des poutrelles (22) pour la rétention de panneaux isolants rigides. Ces éléments sont faits de métal en feuille ou tôle et comportent des branches (24) réalisées par estampage, laissant une ouverture (40) même forme dans la tôle. Ces branches sont allongées avec un bout libre pointu (26) et des ardillons faisant saillie de l'un de leurs côtés. Le bout interne de chaque branche est intégralement retenu à la tôle et chaque branche peut être pliée en une position opérante à angle droit avec la tôle à partir d'une position inopérante parallèle à la tôle. Un butoir fait saillie de la branche à la ligne de pliage pour s'accoter contre la tôle et maintenir la branche en sa position opérante. La branche en position inopérante fait saillie sur un côté de la tôle et est déportée par rapport à l'ouverture dans la tôle de sorte qu'elle ne peut pas être pliée au travers de cette ouverture. Ainsi, l'installateur ne peut pas plier la branche dans la mauvaise direction.
