[origin: EP0448766A2] A mixer-dryer, or apparatus for working and processing liquid, pasty, moist and dry products under atmospheric, vacuum or pressure conditions is described, a mixing container, consisting of cover part, central part and bottom part, which can be heated alternatively, being provided and a mixing screw, which rotates about the vertical container axis, being arranged inside the mixing container. In order further to improve considerably the ratio between product volume and heat transmission surface, it is envisaged that the mixing screw is surrounded concentrically by at least one heated heating jacket or conveying drying pipe, the heating jacket being of essentially cylindrical design and extending axially parallel to the axis of the mixing screw in the mixing container. To increase further the heat transmission surface, it is envisaged that there is arranged in the outer annular gap between the outer wall of the concentric heating jacket and the inner wall of the mixer-dryer a further mixing apparatus with one or more rotary-driven arms.
