Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0449767A1] The machine comprises a machine bed (1), a grinding wheel (2), a control wheel (3), which is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the machine at a horizontal distance from the grinding wheel, as well as a work rest (4), provided between the wheels, for holding a workpiece to be machined. The work rest (4) is arranged on the machine bed, comprises a support body (17) and is only vertically adjustable in the machine. A first longitudinal slide (7) displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the machine is arranged on a first plate (5) pivotable in a horizontal plane, and a first cross slide displaceable in the transverse direction of the machine is arranged on this longitudinal slide (7). The first cross slide contains the grinding wheel (2). In a similar manner, the control wheel (3) is arranged on a second cross slide (11) which in turn is fastened to a second longitudinal slide (10) which in turn is mounted on a second horizontally pivotable plate (9). A first and a second dressing device (12, 13) each for dressing the grinding wheel and the control wheel respectively are connected in a fixed position to one each of the pivotable plates (5, 9). Both the work feed and the in-process measurement can be simplified by this arrangement. The numerically controlled axes for driving the said longitudinal and cross slides can be used for setting the wheels (2, 3) to the workpiece and for setting the wheels (2, 3) to the corresponding dressing device (12, 13). Relatively expensive numerically controlled drives can thereby be reduced in number compared with machines belonging to the prior art. <IMAGE>
