[origin: EP0450281A1] A multipolar electrical connector is proposed which consists of a plug (4) and of a socket (5) and is provided especially for connecting two two-core cables (6, 7). The connector is split into two end sections (A, C) having a round cross-section and a central section (B) having an oval or flat cross-section. Two contact pins (1, 2) and two contact sleeves (14, 15) are provided, which are arranged side-by-side on the longitudinal axis (3) of the oval section. The connector is provided especially for rugged operation, for example in motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
