Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0450346A2] The vegetation mat for protection against erosion has a wide-meshed fabric (1) of hard-wearing, biodegradable, organic fibres, preferably sisal and/or coconut fibres. Connected to this is a nonwoven (2) in which plant seeds (3) are embedded. The nonwoven (2) consists mostly of biodegradable fibres. The connecting pieces (5) which hold the fabric (1) and nonwoven (2) together are made of a material which loses its strength, in particular disintegrates, when exposed to moisture and wet. Fibres, threads or yarns are provided as connecting pieces (5). Fabric (1) and nonwoven (2) are sewn together. The connecting pieces used are yarns based on polyphenyl alcohol (PVA) (Fig. 1) <IMAGE>
