[origin: EP0450686A1] A yarn pre-delivery unit, for use on a loom, consists of a pre-delivery drum (2), a winding tube (1) and a drive mechanism (9) designed to rotate the tube and drum relative to one another. A yarn guide (3) extends along the length of the drum and has at least one portion (4) which is tubular in shape and has a lengthwise slot (5). The unit has additional yarn guides (29) which prevent a weft thread (7) which has been passed along the yarn guide (3) from leaving the tube (4) via the slot (5) while a tension is exerted on the thread from the unit's outlet (16). The additional guides (29) are formed by a lip in the wall of the tube (4) and the interior of the tube itself or, in variants, the inner edge of the slot, or a cutaway portion of the tube.
