[origin: EP0451087A1] The thread-regulating device for sewing machines having an articulated thread take-up system possesses a thread take-up lever (36), on which a thread-regulating spring (47) made of wire is attached directly. The thread-regulating spring (47) is U-shaped and surrounds the thread-guiding part (30) of the thread take-up lever (36). The upper thread running through the thread-guiding part (30) of the thread take-up lever (36) is deflected at the thread-regulating spring (47), and the thread-regulating spring (47) receives the loose thread and keeps it tensioned in specific phases of a stitch-forming operation. <IMAGE>
